In order to sit for the USMLE Step 1/USMLE Step 2 CK exam, the student must successfully complete the Basic Science/Clinical Medicine curriculum and such other prerequisites as the school may establish at its discretion.

2 First 97% Four Year Residency Placement Rate is the percent of students attaining a residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 who were active applicants in the NRMP match or attained a residency outside the NRMP match.

The Medical Pathway is designed for Canadian students with an undergraduate science-based degree.

Time to Completion: Three Terms

 Medical Pathway

• Three terms (10 courses).

• On-campus at UNF in Canada.

MD Year 2 

• Three terms.

• On-campus in Saba.

MD Year 3-4

• Five terms.

• Clinical rotations at affiliated clinical sites in the U.S. or Canada*.

*Students can request advanced standing to SUSOM Year 2 MD (Term 3) upon successful completion of the Medical Pathway with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

**For students with a 3.0 GPA or higher with successful completion of the MD program admissions requirements in place at the time of matriculation. Note that this refers to acceptance to the medical school, and students must separately request advanced standing upon successful completion of the Medical Pathway.

*Core rotations at ACGME-approved teaching hospitals in the U.S. and elective sites available at university-affiliated hospitals in the U.S. or Canada.

Saba University School of Medicine holds an accreditation recognized globally, enabling our students to practice medicine in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, the United Kingdom, and various other countries. Our accreditor, the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education and its standards have been deemed comparable to the standards used to accredit medical schools in the United States by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation. The NVAO is the accrediting body for the Netherlands and Flanders.  Saba is the only Caribbean medical school that has met the standards of European accreditation.
